Jonathan King admitted that this was basically just a spoof of 'poetic' lyrics that had become the rage during the folk-rock scare of 1965. While he never had another US hit, he went on to a long career as a musical prankster in the UK, releasing a lengthy string of novelty records (including an 'ooga-chaka' cover of 'Hooked On A Feeling' years before Blue Swede) under a wide variety of studio aliases. He also discovered (and named) Genesis, but even I don't detest Phil Collins enough to call that his biggest prank of all. -- AWR "Everyone's Gone To The Moon" (Jonathan King) Intro: [2X] / / / / / / / / Verse 1: Streets full of people All alone Roads full of houses Never home Church full of singing Out of tune [1,3: ] [2: ; to bridge] Everyone's gone to the moon Verse 2: Eyes full of sorrow Never wet Hands full of money All in debt Sun coming out in The middle of June Everyone's gone to the moon Bridge: Long time ago () Life has begun Everyone went to the sun Verse 3: Hearts full of motors Painted green Mouths full of chocolate Covered cream Arms that can only Lift a spoon Everyone's gone to the moon Coda: Everyone's gone to the moon [N..] Everyone's gone to the moon
