This is similar to the drop D version but doesn't require changing the guitar tuning. If you have a capo that can do this, clip it on so that it covers all the strings EXCEPT the high e string. That way, when you play the "D" in this song, you can switch on and off the high e string to get that nice open e note in the song. Capo 2nd fret.
