Fire Escape Tab

by Fastball

Notes:

Capo on the 4th fret to match Fastball’s recording. Use chord forms as
noted, rather than starting off in C# as the song is written.

If you’re playing along with the recording, the primary rhythm guitar does
not articulate all the chords in the first two lines of each verse.
Instead, just hang on the “A” chord while the bass plays out the “G”
and “D”. If you’re playing at a campfire you need to play all the chords
in the verse to properly accompany the vocal melody.

For the intro riff (and the riff at the end of each verse) you should
ignore the high “E” string and catch the key notes on the “B” string (and
note that for the “G” chord in this riff you should play the 3rd fret on
the “B” string, not the high “E” string – this will create the ring on that
note the riff requires).

Fire Escape, by Fastball

Intro riff: , , , x4

Well I don’t wanna be president

Superman or Clarke Kent
                                         , , ,
I don’t want to walk ‘round in their shoes

‘Cause I don’t know who’s side I’m on

I don’t know my right from wrong
                              , , ,
I don’t know where I’m going to
                          , , ,
I don’t know about you

I’ll be the rain, falling on your fire escape
                                      , , ,
And I may not be the man you want me to
                                  , , , , , , ,
I can be myself how ‘bout you?

I don’t wanna make you mad

And I don’t wanna meet your Dad
                                    , , ,
I don’t wanna be your dream come true

‘Cause I don’t know just what I’ve found

And I don’t know my sky from ground
                              , , ,
I don’t know where I’m going to
                          , , , , , ,
I don’t know about you

I’ll be the rain, falling on your fire escape
                                      , , ,
And I may not be the man you want me to
                                  , , , , , , ,
I can be myself how ‘bout you?

                                  , , , ,
I can be myself how ‘bout you?
                                  , , , , , , ,
I can be myself how ‘bout you?
